NATURAL WONDER OF MALI ZVORNIK: Beaches of this LAKE are popular with swimmers and fishermen

One of the main symbols of Mali Zvornik is the water wealth that this place possesses: the Drina River and the Mali Zvornik lake.

For decades the Drina bears the name of the most beautiful rivers in the Balkans.

Zvornik Lake is the reservoir on the Drina and forms the natural border of Serbia and Republika Srpska. It lies at 140 meters above sea level. It was created when a dam was built on the Drina river, due to the construction of a hydroelectric power plant.

The lake is 25 km long, with a maximum width of 7.5 km, while its maximum depth is 39 meters.

Local sea

These two waterways offer outstanding opportunities for the development of water sports and fishing tourism. The lake has developed a kayak sport, and along the lake are beaches that during the summer are the ideal place for bathers who want to refresh from the heat.

Good for fishermen

So, here come adults, couples, families with children, young people … During the summer, almost all local people find time for a break in this “local sea”. The entertainment on the lake is complemented by restaurants along the shore, huts that can be rented and traditional events. One of the most famous is the “Somovijada” – the hunt for the catfish. When we talk about fishing, Mali Zvornik is one of the most attractive locations for fishermen. Why? Because it is placed on Drina, which contains almost all types of freshwater fish.

Along the beaches and lakes, there are also suites, fully equipped for tourists and with very affordable prices.
