IT’S OFFICIAL, BELGRADE WINNER IS WITH US I BELGRADE AGAIN: For the first time in 92 years he is alone, WAITING FOR TOURISTS TO RETURN

At the time of the fight against coronaviruses, one good news from Belgrade. The Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade carried out the official handover of the Winner, which means that it was stated that all reconstruction works were done in accordance with the project.

Everything about the reconstruction was completed two weeks ago, and the monument was returned to its place in Kalemegdan Fortress, but due to the situation with the coronavirus epidemic, the papers were only signed after about 15 days.

So, the Winner has formally returned home! However, he stands completely alone on Kalemegdan, for the first time in 92 years, as it is stipulated in the fight against coronaviruses that all parks must be closed to the public.

The reconstruction of Belgrade Winner took 127 days, since it was removed from the podium on October 10, 2019.

A special crane crane was engaged in the erection of the monument, which returned the Belgrade winner to the stand.

This monument was erected in 1928 in the Upper City of the Belgrade Fortress to mark the 10th anniversary of the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front in the World War One.

It consists of a bronze male figure, the work of sculptor Ivan Meštrović and a pedestal designed in the form of a Doric pillar with cannulas on a high cube base, the work of the architect Petar Bajalović.

The monument was reconstructed because it was tilting, the podium was eroded, and there were more than 30 bullet holes in the sculpture itself.
